There are currently proposals, which are part of the South Warwickshire Local Plan to build houses within the setting and former lands of Kenilworth Castle, an internationally significant heritage site.
Well, Historic England have said the development would harm the significance of Kenilworth Castle and has the potential to cause harm to the setting Kenilworth Castle and the Registered Park and Garden, the Councils and their Consultants have said it won’t.
Unlike all the previous consultations, which been looked at by the Councils proposing the South Warwickshire Local Plan, this one will be considered by the Planning Inspectorate. The Planning Inspectorate have already been critical of previous stages of this plan. Here’s a video explaining this a bit more, and below there is a form to respond to the consultation, which runs until 11.59pm GMT on Tuesday 8th September.
If you would like more information, here’s a 69-page report outlining in details many of the problems concerning the site known as KEN.1 or SG04.
Clicking submit sends this form to swlp@warwickdc.gov.uk. You can also email responses directly to this address, before 11.59pm on Tuesday the 8th of September 2026.
